Like many people, Mr and Mrs Henderson had grown weary of the poor interest rates they were receiving from their Building Society. They knew the rates were bad, and only compounded by the long term effects of inflation – the true value of their savings was going backwards.
They had never invested money before, they had never met with a financial adviser. They knew that they had to do something though. Their objectives were quite typical – they wanted the investment to do better than the building society, they wanted to at least keep pace with inflation, they wanted to be able to access their money without penalty. They wanted regular statements to see how it was doing. And if something happened to them the investment could be left to their children.
The whole process was completed over the course of a fortnight.
